Aberlemno & District Community Council ( A&DCC ) are seeking support from local
residents on the statement attached.
Following the Highland Community Councils release of a combined statement, a
meeting was held in August 2025 with North East Scotland Community Councils who
had expressed shared concerns over the potential environmental and community
impact of multiple renewable energy projects and major energy infrastructure being
proposed in Aberdeenshire, Angus and Aberdeen City.
A short life working group developed the unified statement in collaboration with the
North East Scotland Community Councils Convention (NESCCC). It is believed by
supporting a unified statement across multiple community councils gives a stronger
message that these are not isolated concerns of individual councils.
NESCCC believe this initiative is spreading with other community councils’ regions
such as South (Borders), Northern Isles and Perth and Kinross considering or having
already started a similar approach, bring the serious concerns of communities across
Scotland to the attention of Holyrood and the Scottish Government.
A round table meeting is being arranged to be held at Holyrood next month, involving
MSPs of all parties, where these concerns will be raised. The A&DCC would like to
be able to add their support to the statement ahead of this meeting. Residents of the
Aberlemno and District community are therefore being asked to submit their support
or objections to the NESCCC Unified Statement by the 28 th February 2026 to
If no objections are received A&DCC will submit their support based on the previous
communications and meetings held where residents were in attendance and were
clear in their concerns over the impact of major energy infrastructure proposed
across the Angus area.
